We (the folks at Weathergram, Inc.) run a community platform called Switchboard and would love for you to use it. If you are using Switchboard it is because you are either crowdfunding the platform yourself (yay!), or your home institution is the patron of your community. In agreeing to these terms of service you vouch that you are affiliated with the community based on the category you selected on signup or that you indeed have some true connection to the community. Our service is designed to give you as much control and ownership over what goes on your Switchboard as possible and encourage you to post asks, offers, and successes. However, be responsible in what you publish. In particular, make sure that none of the prohibited items listed below appear anywhere in the content you post, share, or link to (things like spam, viruses, or hate content).
If you find a Switchboard or Switchboard post that you believe violates our terms of service, please flag it and a moderator will review the content.
Terms of Service:
Please read this Agreement carefully before accessing or using the Website. By accessing or using any part of the web site, you agree to become bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, then you may not access the Website or use any services. If these terms and conditions are considered an offer by Weathergram, acceptance is expressly limited to these terms. The Website is available only to individuals who are at least 13 years old.

You must immediately notify Weathergram of any unauthorized uses of your Switchboard, your account or any other breaches of security. - the Content is not pornographic, does not contain threats or incite violence, and does not violate the privacy or publicity rights of any third party;
- your Content is not getting advertised via unwanted electronic messages such as spam links on newsgroups, email lists, other Switchboards and web sites, and similar unsolicited promotional methods; and
- your Content is not named in a manner that misleads your readers into thinking that you are another person, company, or organization. For example, your Switchboard URL or name is not the name of a person other than yourself or the name of a company or organization other than one that are affiliated with.
By submitting Content to Weathergram for inclusion on the Website, you grant Weathergram a world-wide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, modify, adapt and publish the Content solely for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting your Switchboard. If you delete Content, Weathergram will use reasonable efforts to remove it from the Website, but you acknowledge that caching or references to the Content may not be made immediately unavailable.

- We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services.

Weathergram Inc. (“Weathergram”) operates several websites including Weathergram.com and Switchboardhq.com. It is Weathergram’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.
Like most website operators, Weathergram collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Weathergram’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Weathergram’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Weathergram may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Weathergram also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on Switchboardhq.com Switchboards. Weathergram only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that Switchboard commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the Switchboard where the comment was left.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to Weathergram’s websites choose to interact with Weathergram in ways that require Weathergram to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Weathergram gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for a Switchboard at Switchboardhq.com to provide a username and email address. Those who engage in transactions with Weathergram – by paying an annual subscription, for example– are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, Weathergram collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Weathergram. Weathergram does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Weathergram may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, Weathergram may monitor the most popular Switchboards on the Switchboardhq.com site. Weathergram may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Weathergram does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Weathergram discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) are the legal owners of the name in which the Switchboard was created; (ii) need to know that information in order to process it on Weathergram’s behalf or to provide services available at Weathergram’s websites, and (iii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Weathergram’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Weathergram will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Weathergram discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when Weathergram believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Weathergram, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of an Weathergram website and have supplied your email address, Weathergram may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with Weathergram and our products. We primarily use our various product Switchboards to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Weathergram takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
If Weathergram, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Weathergram goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Weathergram may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
